The Great Elvish Migration and the Fall of the House of Gruien 7436 836cr Elvish warbands arrive in the Periphery, fleeing the Morfarsing Bloom as it devours the last of the Seelhe Freeholds. Under the guidance of the Elvish Warrior-queen Nemyu Halfhand Coventry is conquered and Gruien’s dynasty ended. Nemyu marries a distant descendant of Gruien’s line, the mercenary Arendel the Bastard.
Holy War between Manachaea and Y’tll 7440 840cr War breaks out between the Manachaean Empire & the Y’tll Theocracy when the Manachaean Emperor declares Y’tll’s inclusive religion and their use of pre-Trinitarian doctrine as part of it heretical. The Free Cities of the Periphery refuse to take sides.
The First Periphery Bloom 7441 841cr The Morfairsing Bloom reaches the southern edge of the Periphery. Panic spreads as Miasma causes many to sicken and die.
Bastard King Arendal 7446 846cr King Arendal the Bastard takes the throne after the Queen dies in childbirth, rallying the people of Coventry against the oncoming Morfarsing Bloom. Importing the latest techniques from Y’tll, he retrains the militia in the use of new agricultural and military technology, establishing bulwarks against the onrushing tide of fungal forest.
The Second Great Migration 7448 848cr Beastmen, Orcs and barbarians fleeing the Morfairsing advance throughout the region, ravaging the countryside as they go. Unable to topple the “Bastard King” of Coventry, the warbands entrench in the bordering Moorfog Mountains.
The Three Heroes & Founding of Whistling Keep Sir Macsen is given the Barony of Whistling for his heroics, while his brothers-in-arms Raga Hanson and Zell Garen begin construction of the Hidden Fortress.
The Guild War 7453 853cr War breaks out between Permot & Coventry over control of trade and security, ending with Permot breaking Coventry dominance and establishing a return to complete Guild independence. A rift remains between the two kingdoms; and trade and communication slow to a crawl.
The Silk Incursion 7455 855cr Elves of the Silken Conclave spill out of the Morfairsing, attempting to spread the Miasma deeper into the Periphery; much of southern Coventry is lost.
The End of the Three Heroes Baron Macsen of Whistling, along with boon-companions Zell Garen the Mage and the Warlord Raga Hanson, lead an army to drive the Conclave back through the Weirdling Wastes. Though victorious, the three heroes never return.
The Insect Incursion 7457 857cr a plague of strange insects from the Morfarsing infests much of the Periphery.
The Third Great Migration 7458 858cr Barbarians, Orcs and Beastmen from lands eaten by the Morfairsing take to banditry and raiding throughout the Periphery.
Wolfshead Incursion 7464 864cr Manachaean Imperial Forces attempt to seize control of the Periphery. Princess Karathok leads the Wolveshead Legion in an attempt to cross the Morfairsing, only to be forced back. While retrenching, she and her cohort invade Coventry in an attempt to establish a second front in the war against Y’tll. Still recovering from successive barbarian invasions, monstrous incursions and miasma, the “Bastard King” is killed while sick in bed. Princess Telsae escapes. Renaming herself Queen Nemyu II, she rallies Coventry to push the invaders out.
The new Baron of Whistling Sir Carlyle, for his hand in helping the Queen, is named the new Baron of Whistling, and married to an Elvish noblewoman.
Blood Queen’s Pogrom 7465 865cr Nemyu II ascends the throne of Coventry, and in alliance with the Midnight Order declares a holy crusade against both Machanaean Invaders in southern Coventry, and civil insurgency caused by a resurgence in Witchcraft. Her bloody pogrom frees the south, but earns her the nickname of “Blood Queen Nemyu” after the cities of Karslod and Wurms are sacked and left to rot under the Morfairsing Bloom. Her uncle, bastard Prince Erlik, starts a rebellion in the north with the aid of allies in Ichslod and other neighboring free cities of the Periphery.
The Second Periphery Bloom 7466 866cr The Morfairsing blooms, expanding on every front . Many settled territories are overrun by the Hungry Forest. The Fungus finally reaches the borders of Machanaea, and swallows the capital of Y’tll, the Holy City of Shan.
The Fall of the House of the Medusa 7475 875cr The Doge of Permot has the House of the Medusa sacked, removing the last threat to his autocratic rule of the city.
Succession Wars 7506 906cr Civil War breaks out in Coventry when Queen Nemyu II is murdered, and the long peace she held between the Humans, Elves, & Orcs collapses. The Morfairsing grows dangerously close to the Free City of Permot, sewing panic among the citizenry. The Doge of Permot packs up his fortune and soldiers, and – along with the city’s wealthiest citizenry – take their leave in a massive flying armada. The city falls into civil war to see who might fill the power vacuum.
The Would-be Kings 7511 911cr An Orc Warlord proclaiming himself King Nacklebones I seizes Coventry’s throne. Meanwhile, in Permot the dust settles, leaving three major Factions vying for control. What remains of the Guilds form the Cartel, controlling the Water-treatment plant and all caravans going in and out of the city. A gang of scavengers called the Scrappers manage the train-station connecting the city to Machanaea’s massive train network, as well as the Junkyard outside of town, making the two into their own fortified township. Finally the Redeemers, a radical group of Last-King heretics, seize control of the mostly ruined House of the Medusa, turning it into a hospital from which they patrol the roads and protect the city from monstrous incursions.
Orc Agressions 7512 912cr At Nacklebone’s order, Orcs begin raiding neighboring Machanaea and across the Wastes.
Permot’s road to Governance The Permot Factions negotiate a tenuous peace, agreeing to allow the city to be ruled over by a High Counsel (on which they will be well represented). The public will be allowed to elect a Mayor to speak on their behalf. To protect the citizenry they allow a mercenary company, the Browncoats, to police the parts of the city they don’t directly control themselves.
Return of the Queen 7514 914cr A second uprising, led by Princess Nemyu III (called by some the “Ruby Eyed Queen”) topples Nacklebones’ regime with an alliance of Elves and Humans. Nacklebones is executed and his armies exiled.
The Impotent Democracy After the 3 previous 5 Mayoral candidates die under suspicious circumstances, Permot manages to elect Katrin Edgerton as their new Mayor. Edgerton’s influence proves limited in the face of rampant corruption, but manages to persuade Commander Rena, a representative of the Machanaean Wolvesheads, to organize and manage a city Militia.
The dubious present 7517 917cr Nacklebone’s scattered armies continue to raid across the Periphery, continuing to be a menace to travelers and border communities. Machenaea demands reparations from the new Queen, threatening war while sending the Wolveshead Legion to establish strongholds in the neighboring Periphery in the name of restoring the peace.
Final Breaths of the Free City The Morfairsing Bloom threatens to overwhelm Permot, swallowing up many orbiting communities in the Wastes.
